What a Great Wanderlust Photo! Could be a BMW Ad!

Joe Snyder over on ADV Rider was gracious enough to let me re-post this fantastic photograph!  And he also let me know about a new blog he’s starting that I thing is a just a great idea!

He writes in:

That’s a great blog you’ve got and it’s now in my favorites

That was taken Sep 18th 2010 on The Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway. That’s Lake Placid in the background

On a similar note, I have just put up a blog www.adventurefoodnetwork.com where i am aiming to get riders to post the places they eat on the road as a reference for others who may be travelling the same areas. I’d love to have you check it out and possibly pass it along to anyone you know who may be interested in that type of thing

Happy New Year

Like I told him, I think food travel and motorcycles are as natural a fit for a blog as there is.  I’m jealous I never thought of it.  Be sure and pay him a visit and if you’ve got material for his blog send it along!  I now have an excuse to take a ride to my favorite local pub and get him some material.  BONUS!  Thanks again Joe!

Death Valley Dualsport Wanderlust…

Mike Lewis over on ADV rider was kind enough to let me post this great panorama of shot from Death Valley.

He sent a message along:

It was taken in Feb 2010 and is along the Wildrose Cnayon road in Death Valley National Park. It was my first trip there and spent most of the trip riding with a group of Ural sidecar riders that gather there every winter for offroad riding adventures. I also meet them in Moab each year in April. Also last year my wife flew down to Sedona AZ and we toured our way through the national parks back to the camper in Moab (on our tour bike).

I have a TE610 (in the picture) and a TE450 for single track riding. I like to load up the camper and head out to great DS ridng places for a few days at a time, including many Dual Sports Ride events through the greater Pacific Northwest. I keep a fairly full riding schedule each year. Besides Moab this year, I plan to spend a few weeks in Idaho and Western Colorado where I will meet a couple of the Moab riding buddies that live in Colorado and ride with them in their backyard.

I’ll come right out and say it.  I’m so freaking jealous of what you guys have available to you out west.  Florida is great but for trail riding, unless you like riding narrow trails with soft sand, it can get annoying.

The LSL W800 Kawasaki.

I know it’s been all over the web already but I still can’t resist.   What a beauty.  Fot LOTS more just google LSL W800

Someone was asking about the header photo…

Here it is in the all original format.  The bikes were photographed at Deals Gap a few years back under the “Tree of Shame”.  The Kawasaki H2 owned by a fellow that went by the board name of Hebman (and I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t recall his full name).  He was the master of the highly polished bike.   i didn’t know the owner of the CBX.  Sure made for a pretty picture though.  I’m sure I’ve posted it waaaay back at sometime but anyway, here it is again.  Click for large original format.

I love a good self portrait.

I just don’t understand how people can do it so well while riding.  Cool shot indeed!  Thanks to Tefloncandy over on ADV Rider!

How my year’s starting out…

It’s not my bike but the picture suits my mood lately… lol..

Youtube video post test. And one lucky and kind of funny DR650 get-off.

One of the reasons I love my DR650. Lay it down, dust it off and just keep going. If you turn up the volume you can hear him say that he was F##king Lucky”… which is very true.

What are the odds? Richard Norton’s favorit bike is a Norton. And a beauty too.

Hello,
Your new site looks great; it’s always part of my daily ‘fix’ along with Southsiders, LeDepassione and CafeRacerCulture.
Don’t know if you have come across my blog, http://nortonsnortons.blogspot.com/ ?
Hope you like it….   Attached is (I think) a really atmospheric shot of me on my newly bought ’75 Commando taken in the back streets of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1988.
Still have this bike plus the Norton that it replaced although the Commando is undergoing a bit of a radical transformation at the moment.  Hope to have both machines back on the road this year after breaks of 7 and 22 years respectively. (due to other bike projects plus family commitments).
Best Regards
Thanks for the photo.  I certainly understand the Family commitment “distractions”…  Need to get cranking on my Project-X soon.  Delays delays delays..

Reader submittal. Sweet Vincent, Triumph and Honda racebikes from the 2009 Sandia Vintage Races.

Darin Davis Writes in:

I took these photos at the 2009 Sandia Vintage Races. I did not get much info on the bikes. The Silver Vincent was out of Califirnia and the Guy thrashed it on the track. The old green triumph#207 belonged to Malcolm Dixon a good friend. He was 74 years old and still racing. Malcolm passed in 2010. He wasa member of British Motorcycle Owners Association in Houston Texas. Thanks Darin Davis

Great Stuff!  That Vincent is stunning.

Reader Submittal. A homebrewed CB750 Cafe.

Hi my name is nick, I’m from Wisconsin this is my 1971 CB 750 Cafe that I put together. It took me two years it was my first build.

First Build!  Nice Job!  I like the cutouts on the tank.  I’m a little foggoy on Honda’s.  Is that stock?
