I didn’t get a lot of info on this. Can someone enlighten me? I suspect it’s a “knock off” kitted out to look like an early BMW? Or am I way off here. Not my area of expertise… obviously. This was sent to me as a for sale post way back in November so I would think it’s sold by now. But all the same… Great looking scoot though!
This looks a lot like a Chinese Chang Jiang CJ750, dressed up to look like a BMW.

Pretty much zeratsky,
Per wikipedia.
The CJ750 motorcycle is based on the original 1956 Soviet IMZ (Irbitski Mototsikletniy Zavod) M-72 which itself was derived from the earlier German 1938 BMW R71. Nearly all of them have sidecars. They are often erroneously referred to as BMW “replicas” when in fact, they are derivatives of the IMZ M-72.

That’s not a Chang Jiang. It’s an M72 made to look like R71 with a quality replica BMW tank, mudguards, rack and a pagusa rubber seat on it. Frame possibly pre 1948 or more likely made to look like one as the early M72’s are even rarer than R71’s. Still it has plunger cover from late production M72, late engine and Dnepr gearbox. Good effort… but not good enough.
