I can vouch that Target Fixation is a very real thing though! I was at a track day once, and I was doing about 120 down the back straight in the rain. I decided that I had braked too late to dive into the turn given the wet pavement, so I decided to take the escape route along the banked oval. There were about 6 orange cones blocking off the oval with plenty of room to go in between them. I was looking at the second cone trying to decide if I should go to the left of it or to the right of it, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t run right over the damn thing!
I don’t think that was target fixation, I think he hit a bump, took a wobble, and could not correct to the right.
Maybe. It seemed like the Go-Pro never wavered from the truck though in either scenario that would be understandable.
