Month: March 2011

By the way… Send me your bike week pics!! lol..

I’m likely going to completely miss the goings-on in Daytona this year. I’ll likely make the October meet (since there will be vintage racing) but the modern only stuff just doesn’t grab me anymore. I really wanted to sneak out for at least a day the flat track racing (and to meet some friends I’ve made here on the blog). It’s starting to really interest me. But family obligations made it impossible. 😦

Another great bike from Mochammed in Indonesia

We’ve seen his work before in this post HERE and HERE

Reader Ride. Custom Benelli 250

Pete Boyd keeps sending them in. Thanks Pete!

Thanks for posting my CL 350 cafe bike. Here is my 1968 Wards/Benelli 250. The seat is mounted to a car leaf spring. The round thing above the bars is an 8 ball shifter knob mounted to adjust the steering damper. The tail light is stock but I cut off the back support and mounted it upside down. Benelli won the 250cc world championship in 1968…my how things have changed!

Wow! Talk about craftsmenship! This stunner of a bike comes to us from Steffen Bühring of Germany.

He writes in:
Hi,
Some pics from Berlin Germany.
This bike cost 3 month hard work, the weight is 180 kilo, 105HP, its look like a BMW, but it is an Ducati (because the frame is from a Duc!)

Salut!

I speechless. What a great build!

I was a little slow getting this one out.  I had an e-mail flurry a while back that I’m still sorting through.  No way would I miss this beauty though..

Hello again,
I was excited to see my Norton on your blog….actually more like
honored to be amung other cool bikes……then I realized I have built
other cool bikes over the years. So i have transfered some pics from
an old computer to forward to you.

This is a 1974 Yamaha TX500 twin. It never really sold well, but its
claim to fame was it was one of the first Yamahas with DOHC. I built
this bike originally about 12 years ago (in Yellow) then revamped it
about 8 years ago, before the customization it was in stock format and
my daily driver. Its still basically a stock bike. with the exception
of the exhaust pipes I made myself (sportster mufflers) . The Tail
light is a 1959 caddy. I added another disc brake to the original
setup with little fuss…I did convert the master cylinder to handle
the Dual brakes. The Seat was also a custom Job i did myself by
cutting up the stock seat pan and some fiberglass. The bike did get
the complete frame up rebuild including powdercoating the frame. I
sold this bike about a year ago after nearly 20 years of ownership. Of
course Having a Norton Commando in the Garage makes it pretty easy to
forget about this old girl.

Here is mine. Wish I still had it. How many times have you heard that?

Plenty. I’ve said it a few time for sure. Ken can you give us a little history on the race wins and such?

Beautiful Guzzi from an all Italian e-mail.

I received an e-mail with a lot of info all in Italian that had this photo attached. Now I admit that I can be bought and a photo like this just about does it. When I clicked on the photo it took me to this website (again all in Italian) called http://www.passionemotoexpo.it/ .  It’s such a nicely produced website that I wish I spoke the language.  Really nice stuff (and no there were no viruses or anything it’s all legit).  Check em out.  Here is the Babelfish translated link if you’re interested.  Anyway sweet Guzzi!

A 1955 BMW R50. Update from a previous post.

Carlos sent in some fantastic Royal Enfield pics recently and is kind enough to send in these beautiful BMW shots of his friends bike.

He Writes in:
It’s fantastic to see how much care u have for bikes.
So, after having sent you some pics of my Royal, I decided to send you as well some pics of a nice BMW R 50 from 1955. “ She “ came from Germany and was restored as the ones used by the Afrika Korps in north Africa during the WW ll by Rommel. “She “ belongs to a great friend of mine. Hope you like it as well.
Kind Regards
Carlos Fragoso

Thank You Carlos!
